June. We’ve hit the mid-year point and let be honest, they’re going to start putting out Christmas decorations by July so we may as well make the most of our (brief) winter whilst we can. We’ve made it very clear that our love for winter has no bounds – so it’s with delight we bring you the best of June.
NEGRONI WEEK | VARIOUS LOCATIONS
Running from 1-4 June, Negroni week holds a prime place in the G&Gs year. Show your love for the classic cocktail whilst supporting charity – the best of both worlds. Check out our guide to who is stirring down and serving up some sweet, sweet Campari drinks.
SIRROMET WINE DINNER | MARRIOTT BRISBANE |CBD
The ideal way to warm up this winter, combine all things vino with a decadent five-course degustation at Marriott Brisbane. Proving there’s more to Brisbane than Milton Mangos, the dinner will focus on local produce and flavours, as well as delicious Granite Belt drops. Get your tickets for Thursday 28 June by emailing [email protected] or phone (07) 3303 8000.
VEGAN DINNER | GREENHOUSE | SOUTH BRISBANE
Whether your tinder date exclusively eats tofu or you’ve got a vegan friend that feels constantly neglected, there’s a new South Brisbane venue with your name on it. The GC veggie fave has moved north, bringing with it buffalo cauliflower wings, macaroni and ‘cheese’ (IT’S NOT CHEESE), jackfruit enchiladas and pandan pancakes. You won’t believe it’s 100% vegan!
THREE BLUE DUCKS | CBD
The incredibly popular Three Blue Ducks have spread their wings and are flying north. Renowned for their Bondi and Byron locations the boys are bringing their special blend of locally sourced, ethically farmed produce to our river city from June 1stat the W Brisbane. We already see our Instagram feeds flooding with signature fare including spanner crab scramble with green mango salad and coal roasted lamb.
If June had a spirit – it would be gin. Between Negroni Week and World Gin Day, if you’re not knocking back some botanicals you’re not living Barry. Osbourne Hotel is celebrating in a big way with a four-course long lunch on June 9. Devour glazed pork belly, rare beef fillet, swordfish and artichoke and an assortment of fresh berries with cream and meringue. Tickets are available here.
LITTLE SOCIAL | PADDINGTON
Social life need a boost? Paddington’s latest destination for squad hangs, cute dates and catch ups with mum (luv ya!) is about to fling open its doors, and we are running towards Little Social as fast as we can (it’s not fast). Chat over charcuterie boards and small plates, celebrate with cocktails and gossip with the gang – it’s the little bar with big heart we’ve been waiting for.
MARTINI MATCHING | SALON DE CO | SPRING HILL
Don’t get us wrong, we love a sneaky vino, but sometimes when we’re dining somewhere luxe like Salon de Co we like to be a little fancier with our beverage options. Sit yourself at the bar and pretend you’re in a Bond film as you sip on a perfectly prepared martini. Choose from lemon, rosemary or espresso paired with goodies including caramelised pepitas, white chocolate truffles and maple praline. We’re sweet on that!
NOSTIMO | SOUTH BRISBANE
The Greek Club has received a makeover worthy of the Fab 5, and who gave it permission to be this fabulous? Along with a brand new façade, there is also a brand new restaurant on the block, and its as delicious as the same suggests. Nostimo (Greek for tasty or delicious – philistines) is set to launch in June with an authentic Greek menu, chic cocktail bar and sweeping views of Musgrave Park. OPA!
WEST END CRAFT BEER CRAWL
We might be bloated and our personal trainers are openly disgusted with our beer bellys, but we love are LOVING the craft beer vibes of West End. With Ballistic Beer Alehouse & Kitchen opening on Montague Road, as well as old favourites Archive, Brisbane Brewing Co and Catchment serving up some of Australia’s best craft brews, it’s the ideal opportunity to grab your mates and head on a crawl! Check out our article for ideas.
THE FINDERS KEEPERS MARKETS | BOWEN HILLS
It’s back baby! The three-day Finders Keepers markets returns Friday June 22 cramming over 200 independent art and market stalls into the Brisbane Showgrounds. Marvel at treasures from all around Australia, as well as feasting on treats from Brisbaane’s favourite food trucks, having a boogie to live music and fuel up at coffee carts.
Rug up and head out, we’ve got eating to do!
