It’s not just the boys they’re bringing to the yard (we had to), Brisbane’s best milkshakes have young and old lining up to try a sip of their delicious combinations. Just in time for summer, cafes and restaurants alike have done away with the Cottee’s syrups and are producing flavor combinations that, before now, were only a part of our dreams. So, instead of clutching at straws for something to do this summer, head out for some of this (totally non-age specific) shaken deliciousness.
NKB Express | Indooroopilly
Don your retro fare and charge full steam ahead to NKB Express by the Indooroopilly rail line. These guys know how to do food, and it turns out they’re pretty stellar at the shakes business as well. Try their Oreo milkshake for size, or indulge in their house made Hershey’s chocolate syrup milkshake. Add extra malt if you’re feeling especially naughty.
Cowch | South Bank
Shake your katoosh down to Cowch, because being dessert specialists, they’ve got milkshakes worth ditching your waffle cone for (or just have both). There’s no time like the present to excuse your indulgent eating for patriotism, so order a Tim Tam milkshake and start your New Year’s resolutions another time, you’re going to want to stick around Cowch for a while.
That Little Place | Mount Gravatt
If you’re feeling a little more adventurous than your regular raisin toast and strawberry shake, try one of That Little Place’s Turkish delight flavoured shakes. They mix one of a can’t-go-past flavours with a little adult flair. The café prides itself on being particularly kid friendly (even big kids like us), so if you’re feeling a little nostalgic, this is the place to hit up. You might even get a freckle!
Lucky Duck Café & Bar | Highgate Hill
Helloooo Canadian Bomb. Think a milkshake full of flavours that were made for one another, chocolate, banana, espresso and maple syrup, all bound together in a glory of milk and vanilla ice cream. Enough said.
Gather your sippy straws and get shaking!
