Christmas is a mere four weeks away – but this year you’re organised. You hit the shops before the crowds started and you’ve got a pile of presents (wrapped and everything) in the cupboard just waiting for the big day. Too bad you’re also now waiting on payday after spending the last of your savings on a sneaky pressie for yourself. Don’t resign yourself to egg on toast for the rest of the week – we’ve got a few spots where you can feast on the cheap.
Soul Bistro | $15 Big Breakfast
Easy to find yet, easily missed, Soul Bistro in Milton should be on your list this silly season for a cheap eat. For a mere $15, the big breakfast of 2 eggs, bacon, homemade apple and pork sausage, mushrooms, duck fat roasted potatoes, roasted tomato and homemade baked beans all served on sourdough toast with a glass of OJ will keep you stuffed until dinner (so it’s kind of like two meals in one!). Head down to Soul Bistro so the friendly staff can ensure you stick to your Christmas budget and still get a good feed.
Chur Burger | $10 Burgers all day everyday
The crew at Chur Burger in Fortitude Valley have a menu full of cheap and cheerful eats. Their range of burgers are all priced at $10, with super tasty combinations such as pork belly and chilli caramel, lamb and feta or their infamous beef and pickle. Or you can go for a $7 taco, stuffed to the brim with crispy pork or spicy fish and dripping with sauce. Pair it with a cold brew, relax in their laneway and forget for a moment that you will soon have to smile and gush over ridiculous presents from your extended family.
No need to be hangry in the silly season!
