Stop, wok and roll because Surfers Paradise is about to get lit. 8 Street – a hawker style Asian street food market – is set to launch in Cavill Lane this December, and it’ll be the gift you’ll never have to stop unwrapping.
Tucked away in the Gold Coast’s beloved (or notorious) nightlife precinct, over 30 street vendors will be heating things up in a Shanghai inspired laneway. Imagine timbered kitchens, lanterns and flaming grills; aromas invigorating your senses and chefs conjuring creative dishes before your eyes.
With cuisines from China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Korea, Thailand, India and more, expect iconic street food style dishes like BBQ duck, dumplings, bibimbap, pho and banh mi (though exact vendors are still to be confirmed). There’ll also be a centralised bar area to grab a tipple…are those chopsticks or are you just happy to sashimi?
Spreading over 2000 square metres with enough seating for 1000+ tummy rumblers, this is going to be pho-nomenal.
Planned to be open 7 days (until 10pm on weekdays and midnight on weekends), 8 Street is sure to take Surfers’ dining scene to the next level – especially with the Commonwealth Games on our doorstep.
Dim sum one say, paradise?
