A cosy, hole-in-the-wall restaurant just off Sandgate Road, Mamaku may be small in size, but there’s nothing small about the flavours coming out of their kitchen. Nab a table inside under the greenery hanging from crisp, white walls and you’ll be in for a delicious, spice-filled experience, with some familiar and not-so-familiar dishes to sample.
Perfect to share (or keep to yourself – we won’t judge), the menu features small plates like crispy fried chicken wings, vegetable fritters and pork dim sims, as well as plenty of mains. Once your tastebuds are well and truly intrigued, tuck into flavoursome slow cooked beef rendang or tender pork belly that will have you licking the bowl clean, or get really adventurous and sample the spicy whole chilli barramundi.
If you’ve popped in for lunch, you might prefer to stick to the lighter noodle dishes, like BBQ pork mie goreng, beef ball mie ayam (a South East Asian noodle dish) or the slurp-worthy laksa.
