Dishing up Modern Australian meals with a side serve of tangy wit and industrial chic, The Survey Co. is all about the experience of eating, particularly the sharing part. A refined menu and a huge wine list may seem daunting at first, but every dish has a suggested match, so there’s no confusion about which wine will go with what. We love when the hard work is done for us!
Survey Co’s name references James Charles Burnett: a surveyor and explorer born in England who came to work in Australia and who subsequently had a laneway named for him. The laneway in question is obviously Burnett Lane, and it has become the home of a number of the CBD’s best dining and drinking spots. The restaurant design and menu reflect Mr Burnett’s proud heritage. The menu is bound in soft leather folders with old survey maps as end papers, and the restaurant describes their cuisine as European and Modern Australian. Diners get a full view of the chef in action too, with an open kitchen visible from all angles.
