When someone uses the words ‘fun’ and ‘educational’ in the same sentence, it’s generally safe to say they’re lying. We’ve found an exception to the rule – food tours. We couldn’t think of a better way to get educated than by eating a copious array of food and discovering delicious spots around the city, so here’s a few of Brisbane’s best.
Craft Beer Walking Tours | Foodi
This three-hour tour is perfect for a buck’s night or just a regular group of beer lovers. It’s basically a pub crawl, only way more sophisticated (we hope). Visit four venues in Park Road, Milton, where you can sample 20 different craft beers and learn some interesting beer-story. We don’t expect you to remember too much after the first ten, but do try.
Chocolate Walking Tour | Foodi
Scrap breakfast for this Saturday morning tour because you’ll need plenty of room for chocolate, totally acceptable as a mid-morning treat for once. Taste and indulge your way through four venues in the CBD with samples of their best treats and learn practical tips like how best to store it (not that there is ever any leftovers to store). Chocoholics anonymous here we come.
South Bank Dessert Tour | Foodi
If you’ve never been for dessert in South Bank, this is the best way to start. The Foodi guide will take you to five (FIVE!) decadent dessert and patisserie shops around the area so you’ll know just where to take your fellow sugar-loving friends next time you’ve got a craving for the sweet stuff. You’ll be needing the walk between stops for this one!
Food Discovery Tours | Sunnybank Plaza
If, for some crazy reason, beer, desserts and chocolate aren’t your thing, Sunnybank Plaza offers food tours of a more savoury bent. Chef Tony will show you the best places to eat and shop for fresh Asian food around Sunnybank, handy if you’ve ever been to the suburb and been lost in an agony of indecision over where to eat.
You’re going to want to wear more than comfy pants on these babies, because you’ll need a comfy pair of shoes to take you from one surprising location to the next. Finally, something new to brag about on a Monday morning.
