We’ve teased you with news of the Fish Lane Festival returning May 12th but we only fed you the crumbs. Well friends, starve in silence no more, we’re here to answer the question on everyone’s lips – WHERE’S THE FOOD?
We’ve got the hook up on what you’ll be scooping into your mouth, forget knives, forks and chopsticks – we’ll use our bare hands if necessary! The full food line up has been announced and we’re more excited about this than we are for splendour – The Wombats who?
From piles of pizza to generous serves of gelato, we’re ready to eat our way from one end of Fish Lane to the other – and anyone who decides to get in our way.
We recommend starting off small with a couple of cheeky skewers and some chicken kaarage fries from West End institution Birds Nest Yakitori. Equal parts spicy and oishii, these succulent skewers are sure to put a spring in your step!
Continue on your pan-Asian journey and snag yourself a couple of mouth-watering duck buns from Chu the Phat, whilst you chu over what you’re going to eat next!
Next stop, flavour town (pipe down Guy Fieri), aka Billykart Bar. Slingin’ traditional cheeseburgers and pulled pork sliders, wrangle a friend to accompany you – you’re going to want to try both.
Feeling chipper? No wonder with the fanciest fish n’ chips this side of town from Ol’ School on offer! Snag a potato scallop on your line and keep on swimmin’.
All this potato has us craving more carbs, and what better way to ditch the keto diet than with pasta, gnocchi and arancini, just like Nona made it, from Mangia Mangia Street Goods aka Julius aka the pasta gods.
After savouring all that savoury – we’re ready for a bit of sweetness in our lives, starting with whoopee pie from 31 degrees. Peanut butter and jam sandwiched in between chocolate brownie cookies – um, sign us up for five please!
More cream than cookies? Gelato Messina will be bringing two one-of-a-kind custom gelato creations to the festival, from sundaes to individuals. They’re not letting us in on ALL the secrets just yet – but we’ll try and sweeten them up.
Last of all, after all this delicious food, we recommend detoxing with a totally raw, totally #vegan AcaiWhip from Kiss the Berry, topped with cacao buckinis, clean chocolate and crushed peanuts. We think after devouring this you’ll have earnt yourself a beer!
Remember friends, this is an all-day affair. Don’t peak too soon and eat a whole pizza, and definitely don’t get too buck wild with the Gin Garden until you get to at LEAST eat dessert first! Have a boogie (burn those pasta calories!), hug your mates, it’s going to be a great foodie day out.
