According to a wise philosopher (us), wine is most probably the answer to world peace – and in our office, we’ll make any Riesling to break out a bottle or two. So if you’re like us, cask yourself if you’re ready to experience tastings that’ll take your wine knowledge to the next level, as the Osbourne Hotel showcases winemakers from across the country in a series of exciting events this month.
If you’re already searching for the “sign me up” button, we oeno-feel ya, because April is going to be filled to the rim with a boozy lunch, delicious degustation and even a free wine tasting.
AUTUMN HARVEST | SUNDAY 29th APRIL | $35pp
Skip the Sunday brunch and grab your girlfriends for a chance to sample a multitude of Rieslings matched with an Autumn Harvest tasting plate inspired by the flavours of Riesling, all for less than the price of a manicure.

Feeling peckish? Your Asian-influenced tasting plate created by Head Chef Ben King will feature carefully matched flavours with the likes of Pork Belly Bao Buns with house made Nahm Jim, Duck Spring Rolls and Chicken Karaage – and you thought a good cheese and quince paste were the perfect match to a bottle of wine, just wait until you try these.
HOWARD PARK WINES DEGUSTATION | WEDNESDAY 18th APRIL | $60pp
An afternoon without a few glasses of wine is a rarity in our office, the only thing rarer being the vintage Rieslings that’ll be presented at the Howard Park Wines degustation. This event will showcase seven Rieslings including three single vineyard drops from Howard Park Wineries, Mount Parker, Porongurup and Museum Release. There’s no wining without dining, so enjoy a multi-course surf and turf degustation that compliments the wine flavours, created by Head Chef Ben King using the freshest local produce.
BEST RIESLINGS AROUND AUSTRALIA | WEDNESDAY 11th APRIL | $25pp
If you consider yourself a cultured wino, but also love the comfort of your own backyard, then get excited because vine-ally you’ll be able to do both at the same time. Sit back and relax in the Osbourne’s very own backyard as Brenton (BJ) Jull takes your tastebuds on a trip around Australia’s wine regions with Rieslings from the Clare Valley and Eden Valley in South Australia to Henty Victoria, Flowerpot Tasmania and as far as the South-West region of Western Australia.

LARK HILL RIESLING TASTING | THURSDAY 19th APRIL | FREE EVENT
Just when you thought nothing grape comes out of Canberra, Lark Hill Wines (the award-winning biodynamic winery) will be gracing our glasses from 6pm on April 19 – all the way from the highest plantings in the Canberra District wine region. Get your tastebuds acquainted (for free) with some of the best Rieslings from Eden Valley, Clare Valley and the Adelaide Hills. These aromatic drops will be sampled alongside the featured wine of the night – the 2016 Lark Hill Biodynamic Riesling, which won silver in both the Canberra Regional Wine Show and the Hyatt International Wine Challenge.
If you’re a lover of wine, we’ll see you there – it’s ferment to be.
Words by Sophia Lunn, the gourmand who’s the vampire of wine, a few glasses at night and you won’t see her the next day.
Keeping the G&G up to date with all the latest tasty tidbits requires a lot of double lattes and espresso martinis, so we occasionally need to give out some sponsored love. But rest assured that we only work with businesses that we think are really nifty, as the sponsor for this post is!
